The region of study is in Peristeri and constitutes the bigger vacant space of the municipality. Until the decade of '70 it was named "Coal" because of the coal mine that functioned there from 1932 until 1956. The region has been the subject of claim for the coverage of the needs for sport, cultural and public green space, resulting to its characterization as such space from the Urban Plan of 1989.

The region borders on the Grove of Peristeri and the cemetery, while inside it today are found the Exhibition Centre of the Municipality, 2 grounds of football, the parking lot of the refuse vehicles of the Municipality. There also exist stockyards of construction materials, lodgings of earthquake's victims and 5 buildings of general residence.

From the analysis results the need for creation of a park, that will respond to the needs of the population. The park must have uses that attract many people and allow to it to function during the biggest part of the day. Therefore, the planning includes the existing football court as well as 3 new courts, outdoor theatre and games. In the park there is also included a landscape building of cultural and educational uses,  with exhibition spaces, library, laboratory for students, auditorium of multiple uses and refectory.

The central idea of planning results from the combination of irregular mappings out of geometric simplification of the mines with the urban web. Basic parameters of planning are the configuration of the bas-relief, the plantings and the materials.

We aspire that this study contributes to the enforcement of solutions that have as fundamental axis the public green space for the benefit of the social interest.
