The polytechnic school of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in its graduate programme «Protection, Conservation and Renovation of cultural monuments» organizes, Friday 9 of March, lecture by the architect Dimitris Korres on the transportation of buildings.
Dimitris Korres studied architecture and had the opportunity to finish his studies painless due to his fluency in design. In fact he didn't want to become an architect but a sculptor. He chose the architecture mainly to have free time to deal with art and sports.
The transportations of buildings, resulted from his experience on restorations, with his brother Manolis Korres, and all the heavy transports needed in such operations. He stresses the difficulty experienced in the beginning to convince that he was able to accomplish such a task by saying «...It took me two and a half years to convince the Greek state the obvious , that I can move a 60 tons church in Kifisias Avenue».
