Following last year's "p_public" success, the Architects' Association of Chania organize this year a four-day festival concerning public space. Between the 3rd and 6th of June 2011, the young architects of Chania call for other young architects, artists and creative groups from Greece and abroad to present lectures and works concerning the improvement and better use of public space, that will take place at the Center of Mediterranean Architecture in Chania.
The debate is transformed into a living experience in the public space itself and includes various events and interventions in the urban area of Chania, focusing on the relation of the public space of the city with its residents and visitors.
Within the overall restructuring of the life and economy in Greece, we consider significantly crucial improving the appearance and operation of our city so that not only does it provide a pleasant environment for residents, but a memorable image for visitors as well.
Furthermore, last year's success is important to establish this festival as an annual activity of our town and the Center for Mediterranean Architecture as a platform to communicate and exchange ideas at national and European level.
The organization is a voluntary action by young people (mostly architects) that aims to promote the work of young professionals and artists in public space, the participation of whom is also free.
