WOHA Breathing Architecture Exhibition
In Deutsches Architektur Museum, the first monographic exhibition of the architectural team WOHA from Singapore is going to be realized, with the title "Breathing Architecture", in Frankfurt. (until 29 April 2012)
WOHA, through their works, seem to realize the intense interaction between built and unbuilt, interior and exterior spaces. In the exhibition "Breathing Architecture", works, such as open tropical residences, green high-rises ad under construction projects, are presented. The main topics, which appear in the exhibition, are mainly the issues that concern the architects, like the value of public spaces and the importance of the nature and microclimate in architecture and the building.
The architecture office was founded in 1994, by Wong Mun Summ and Richard Hassell. The main office's strategy, as the architects pose, is not to use a recognized architecture language in their works but to let the buildings evolve through the issues that landscape and the same project pose. Among the known works of the office, are works like the three residences in Victoria Park Road (International Architecture Prizes, 2006), the Bras Basah Station (World Architecture Festival, World Building Transport for 2009),the Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali (International Riba prizes, 2011) and the School of Art in Singapore (International Riba prizes, 2011). The last project, whereas the Met residences complex in Bangkok and the future Singapore's office and hotel ensemble PARKROYAL ON PICKERING are also presented in the exhibition.
